Reporting to the Communications Lead, the Communications Coordinator will support the development and
implementation of engaging communications plans, and develop and distribute communication and
marketing materials in support of Clinical Trials Ontario’s (CTO) strategic priorities.
The Communications Coordinator is a self-starter and a strong storyteller who can support content from
ideation through to publication and distribution on websites, social media, newsletters and other
communications channels with a high attention to detail and quality.

economic growth and better medicines for patients and families. This 14-month paternal leave contract
position is ideal for an enthusiastic communications professional with 2–3 years of experience looking to dive
into a meaningful, multi-faceted role that offers an opportunity to use a broad communications skillset, and
work on a wide variety of projects, from social media to storytelling to event coordination support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Implement communications activities targeting different audiences to increase awareness,
understanding and uptake of CTO’s programs
• Develop and implement content calendar for social media and CTO’s blog that supports CTO’s core
pillars and objectives
• Prepare and distribute communications materials (e.g. CTO backgrounders, brochures, presentations,
promotional materials, publications, press releases) to support a wide variety of communication
initiatives
• Write content for CTO blog and other storytelling opportunities (e.g. op-eds), including conducting
interviews
• Prepare and distribute CTO’s bi-monthly newsletter and other ad hoc e-blasts, including writing
content and developing graphics
• Maintain CTO’s social media channels (X, LinkedIn), including designing social tiles and writing post
content
• Support the development, writing and distribution of CTO’s annual report
• Marketing and promotion of CTO Conference and other events (e.g. BIO, MedTech) through
implementation of a communications plan, working with CTO team and vendors
• Support program development of CTO Conference, including agenda development and speaker
acquisition
• Maintain the CTO website and liaise with IT team as needed
• Identify potential media/trade media opportunities and collaborate with Communications Lead on
media relations activities
• Provide support on projects and assignments as required
• In-house design initiatives as needed
Skills and Qualifications:
• The ideal candidate possesses a post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, or
Public Relations; with at least 2 years of related experience
• Experience in communications; digital media; writing, editing and proofreading; stakeholder relations;
and light graphic design and video production. Experience in media relations and life sciences
communications are assets
• Ability to implement and adapt communications plans to align with organizational mission and areas
of strategic focus
• Exceptional ability to produce professional and compelling written, visual and presentation products
for digital and print media
• Ability to develop strong relationships and collaborate with team members, partner organizations,
and other external stakeholders
• Ability to track, measure and report on various metrics (digital metrics and project milestones)
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-profile environment
• Strong ability for self-direction, organization, project and time management
• Ability to create and edit accessible materials for various audiences (e.g. reports, brochures, digital
content, infographics, stakeholder briefs and more)
• Exceptional attention to detail, nuance, sensitivity and assurance of accuracy in communicating
medical information
Technical Requirements:
• Experience with WordPress, MailChimp, Survey Monkey
• Understanding of SEO and experience working Google Analytics, social media metrics platforms
• Advanced knowledge of X, LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube and other social media platforms
• Experience working with design platforms (e.g. Canva). Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud programs
is an asset
