Clinical Trial Finance Operations

Join us on February 28th for part one in our two-part series focusing on clinical trial finance. In this first session, Shaherose Nanji & Shauna Kirk from The Hospital for Sick Children will focus on clinical trial finance operations including:

  • Market overview and cost of bringing drug to market
  • Structure of a Clinical trial budget
  • Know what to look for, and when and how to build your budget
  • Main cost drivers
  • Study budgets dos and don’ts
  • How to deal with out-of-scope costs (ie COVID)

Mentor

Shaherose Nanji

Shaherose (Shy) is a Senior Contracts and Budget Specialist for Sickkids’ Haematology/Oncology Clinical Trial Support Unit. Shy has over 20+years of experience across all aspects of clinical research, including contracting, budgeting and managing Phase I-IV clinical trials, in both public and private sector (CROs and Pharma) settings. Shy has been with Sickkids for over 8 years, developing and/or negotiating Industry budgets, including IITs and multicenter global studies. Her expertise includes  BMT, Neuro Onc, Leukemia/Lymphoma, Solids and New and Innovative Therapies (NAIT) protocols.

Shauna Kirk

Shauna is the Program Manager and SickKids Clinical Trials Navigator with over 20 years of experience in clinical research in both industry and academic settings. She is a certified Clinical Research Professional and holds a master’s degree in pathology from the University of Western Ontario.

Shauna provides leadership to SickKids Streamlined Pathway for Research Initiation (SPRINT) and supports individual Principal Investigators and research teams in the development of new clinical trials and guides them through SickKids clinical research pathway, with the goal of helping researchers launch clinical trials more effectively and efficiently.
